Week in Love

1.  Books! Books are my enemy! You see, I love them so much that I become obsessed. Like a teenage girl in love for the first time…that type of obsessed (haha, you girls know what I’m talking abouticon smile Week in Love). Once I start reading, there goes my life. I will read late into the night and into the early morning hours. Like 4 am early and then I’m completely useless the next day because I didn’t get enough sleep. It’s really an ugly and vicious cycle. U-G-L-Y!

My main obsession and one I read in 24 hours was Don Miller’s A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. I read it based off of Sarah Roads’ recommendation and I love it. You are the author of your own life story and if you want a better story, it’s there for you to write with your decisions and experiences.

2. Is it possible that clothing can be so comfortable and functional that you can sleep in and where it the very next day? Um, I do believe so! Don’t act like you all don’t do it… Oh I’m just messing but Lululemon is that comfortable and luxurious and scrumptious! I love them so much that I want to work there so if any of you have the hook up… hook it up!

3. The Bloggie!!!! Ok, so I don’t officially have it yet. But I want it so bad that I already know that I love it! What? Flip? Pft! Does the flip swivel and turn? Um, I don’t think so.

4. My new favorite food network gal, Marcela Valladolid. She cooks mexican food and makes it look so easy, hence, Mexican Made Easy. My hero! How did she know that I sucked at cooking and needed my very own private chef every Saturday morning? Hmm, she cooks and reads mindsicon smile Week in Love

5. Jose Villa announced his ONE and ONLY workshop today. His one and only! Do you know what that means? If I don’t get to go to this one, then I have to wait until 2011! If I had a child, I would be willing to part with it or rent it out for some money. But I don’t and that may be why I don’t have kids.

Jose, can’t we work something out? Like a contest? Say you pick a number, let’s say 1 through 2 and if I guess right I get to attend your workshop for free!

Week in LOVE

Awe yeah, another installment of my weekly, bi-weekly, and sometimes monthy Week in LOVE

weekinlovenov Week in LOVE

1. I’m kicking it off with my all time favorite piece of clothing. LNA tees! I could seriously live in these shirts, it’s like wearing heaven. They are a little on the expensive side, but quality costs and it is soooo worth it. Another reason for my obsession and love for LNA-their line is how I view my photography…. classic, clean, with a little bit of edge-or what I like to call Flair

2. Oh Giada, how I love you! You entertain me during the week and you help me with easy to make dinner ideas. Now if you could only cut down on the use of tomato sauce I would love you even more. Because you all should know by now my udder dislike or even hatred of that nasty sauce that gets me sick.
And did you know she graduated with an anthropology degree but then went on to culinary school in Paris? She followed her dream! How stinkin cute is she?!

3. It’s a good thing that Starbucks only offers holiday drinks during the holidays cause DANG I could and probably would be 500 lbs if they offered them year round. My new Starbuck obsession is the Caramel Brulee. Oh, sweet heaven they are DElish!

4. This last item has to be the best product I have ever owned and I am a product- rhymes with bore, and starts with a “W”! I have a closet full of stuff, some I like and some I don’t like but can’t bear to throw away…just in case I need it or I decide that I actually do like it. Josie Maran has a make-up line and this was the first thing I bought and absolutely fell head over heals in love. It can seriously be used on everything and for everything. You really do have to try it!

Hope ya’ll love!

A Week in LOVE

week in love banner A Week in LOVE

My week in love has turned into a month and a half in love. You know how it gets, life gets in the way and then your daily blogging turns into weekly and then monthly, and then you have to shake yourself and slap yourself a couple of times to get your butt back in gear… what?  You don’t shake and slap yourself? Don’t knock it till you try it.

Ok, back to the point, before I have to shake and slap myself again:

glasswaterbottle A Week in LOVE

How darn cute is this reusable water bottle? Too darn cute if you ask me. But if you ask my husband, he would say that I have too many reusable water bottles, but can one really have too many?

You can get this too darn cute water bottle at FredFlare.com

pomegran A Week in LOVE

OH! Pomegranates! Right next to cherries, these are my favoritest fruit of all favorites. And Pinkberry has these delicious seeds back for the fall/winter! That calls for a trip to Pinkberry for that reason alone.

etsyhat A Week in LOVE

I am so in love with crochet hats and scarves and these hats take the cake. Cute, retro, and affordable (kind of affordable but worth it for quality) who can resist… and just to let you all know, I am currently accepting christmas and birthday gifts early this yearicon wink A Week in LOVE

uggs A Week in LOVE

I will be the first one to admit that I was one of those people who vowed to NEVER be caught dead in a pair of uggs and you would’ve had to kill me for me to wear them in public. Boy, has my tune changed. I think it might have been the pillowy-soft white stuff that made my feet feel snuggled and loved that made me see the light… but talk about true love and yes, I LOVE MY UGGS!

sidenote: Lola isn’t really mean, she just looks mean because I made her model without the promise of a treat. I think she’ll thank me later when she’s famousicon smile A Week in LOVE

canon50mm A Week in LOVE

My new baby! The lovely and oh so dreamy 50mm 1.2. Talk about true love! But to be honest with you, I’m a little mad at it. It has made me so lazy, I leave it on my camera for an entire shoot thus, neglecting my other lenses.

But what my camera wants, my camera gets.

Once you go 50, you never go back.

The 50 is the new black.

Annnd, I’ll end my lameness at that.

Week in LOVE

My monthly favs and now turned into a weekly post called “Week in Love”. I have so many things that I love or that inspire me and I just want to share it. Share all of it. And once a month just doesn’t cut it so….. Week in Love has been born! I hope you enjoy!

Canon 5D Mark II

I know that a lot of people say that they love their camera… but what I am saying is that I am in love with my camera. I really liked it A LOT when I first got it-it was new, fancy, and a nice piece of equipment. But to be honest with you, I didn’t really now how to use it. Oh, how things have changed. The more I use it, the more I love it! I’m not sure how one can love an inanimate object but I do. Oh, and let’s not forget my favorite child (yes, I have favorites), the 50mm 1.4. It may not be the coveted 50mm 1.2 but it works great for me and it produces great images. We (canon 5D Mark, 50, and myself) didn’t have the best relationship in the beginning, but it is one to be reckoned with now. We are now the Three Musketeers- inseparable friends who live by the motto “all for one, one for all”!

Rebel Green Reusable Bags

I’m getting older and with that I believe I am getting wiser. Well, at least I hope I am. I am aware of my surroundings more and my impact on this planet. And I am proud to admit I am one of those “trying to be green” people. And guess what! There are cute reusable bags to help with my cause! What?? CUTE BAGS I SAID! Rebel green has cute and functional bags for personal items and cute lunch bags as well.

“trying to be green” + cute reusable bags = happy, stylish Harmony

Smitten Kitchen!

Yes, I’m talking about food yet again! You really have to check out this site! Great food, good pictures, and a fun read. Deb is the cook, photographer, and author of this site and she does it all from her small New York City apartment. She cooks, bakes and then lets you know what worked, what didn’t work, and how it all went down. Be forwarned, you may be addicted and/ or gain ten pounds just by lookingicon smile Week in LOVE

Jessica Biel on Allure Magazine

I know this particular magazine is a couple of months old but it had such a profound affect on me. The picture is gorgeous, of course Jessica Biel is gorgeous and it may actually be difficult to take a bad picture of her, but…. the picture itself is absolutely breathtaking to me- the natural light (may not be the sun), her skin, and the overall feeling. This is the stuff that inspires me and keeps me going.

The Color Wheel

Ok, so yes I learned about this in elementary art class but relearning now in the context of being a photographer has made me look at the world differently. I see the world in color. I see the world in complimentary colors and colors in the same family. Everywhere I look now I analyze the colors, are they in harmony, in the same family, complimentary?  It’s weird to relearn something and then be able to apply it. And so fun at the same time!
