San Diego Photographer: Urban Outfitters Styled Shoot

A week ago I spoke about shooting my own photographic vision, shooting what I want to show and… here is part 1 of my Urban Outfitters Styled Shoot. I love Urban Outfitters and all their clothes but when I picked up their recent catalog, I was a little bit disappointed- that’s what inspired me.  I wasn’t trying to redo their catalog nor do I think I could do a better job- this is just my vision I had in my mind.

Thank you to Vanessa & Hannah- my fabulous models and thank you for being so willing to help me out. And Thank you to Clarissa for doing an amazing job on make up!

On Hannah: Grey Romper- Urban Outfitters, White Bustier- Urban Outfitters, Necklace- Urban Outfitters, Shoes- Mossimo Target, Hat- Urban Outfitters

On Vanessa: Red Floral Print Bustier: Urban Outfitters, Red Shorts- Urban Outfitters, Necklace- Urban Outfitters, Shoes- Mossimo Target

This is Fashion Fridays. What is this all about you ask? Well, it is a weekly post where I will give out tips on a number of issues dealing with fashion: what to wear for a photo shoot, how to put on make up, how to style your hair for a shoot, make up I like and don’t like, things I love, etc, etc, etc. Let me tell you that I am not claiming to be a fashion expert by no means, shoot some days I don’t get out of my gym clothes- even if I’m not going to the gym. These are tips, ideas, inspirations, take what you like from these segments and make them your own.

This segment will be a mixture of my opinion and outside sources. I hope to have guest writers and contributors soon but for the most part it will be me.

One of the main reasons why this segment came about was all the questions I would get from my girls- What should I wear?, What do I do with my hair?, How much make up should I put on? etc, etc, etc. I could easily make a list of what to do, what to wear, and not wear but I think most people like to see what to do rather than just reading a list from a sheet of paper.

So, that’s how Fashion Fridays was born.

Without further ado,

Fall Photo Shoot:

Since we are transitioning into the fall season today will be focusing on fall-ish clothing along with tips on make up and curling your hair.

Fall-ish Clothing Ideas:

fallshoot FFAs you can see these clothes are fall-ish looking and would look great with a natural background consisting of deciduous trees- trees with leaves that change colors (I’m a science nerd so forgive me), grass, and maybe even a meadow.

If you are interested in the price or locating any of these items you can visit this site: Fall Shoot

You can also make your own collage as well. Be warned this site is addicting. http://www.polyvore.com/

Hair:

Styling your hair for a shoot can be difficult. Should you keep it natural, curl it, straighten it… That can only be answered by you and the type of hair you have. But to go along with the Fall-ish style theme I’m going to show you how to curl your hair to get a semi-curl/ messy curl look. Actually I’m  not going to show you but instead Mizz Chievouz will be doing the honor. She is the hair and make up guru on you tube.

Fall inspired Make Up:

Choosing make up for a shoot can be difficult as well. You want to apply a little more than usual but not too much where you no longer look like yourself. Also anything really glittery can create extra shine in pictures that you don’t want. You should apply the make up you want to wear before the actual photo shoot to see if everything works well and flows. You can even take a picture with a regular camera to see if anything doesn’t look right and to see if you need more or less.

That concludes the first Fashion Fridays segment. Just a reminder, these are only tips and are meant for inspiration.

You can always let me know how you feel in the comment box below.icon smile FF

And don’t forget to check back on Monday!
